Try incorporating some of these ideas into the story. It will help improve Wikinovel's continuity.

  • A series of ancient legends, going back in to the mists of time and forward to King Arthur's round table say souls are changed by unexpected encounters in the forest. Nothing says they're changed for the better, though.
